A terrace door (also referred to as a garden door) offers a number of the features of a sliding patio door with the operation of a swinging door. They are available in double door sets or as a single door with a side lite. In a terrace door configuration one door (or the side lite) acts like a venting window while the other opens like a regular door. The venting door or side lite usually features variable position ventilation, a full weathertight seal, and a full screen to keep insects out.
A terrace door is a great option for customers unsure of whether to use a door or a window in a specific space. Because a terrace door is half of each, it solves the dilemma. You get an operating door providing access to the outside as well as a full length, weathertight, secure and screened window for ventilation.
Terrace doors can be configured with the venting side on either the left or the right side. Options such as true divided or simulated divided lites are available as well. Ask a Heritage Millwork and sales representative for more information on featuring a Terrace door in your home.
