Slab Doors Print E-mail

carrara.jpgA slab door is what most people are picturing when they think of a door. It is a simple rectangular slab of wood, composite or steel with no hinges or hardware. Customers purchasing slab doors must attach the door to a door frame themselves via hinges. Slab doors are cheaper then pre-hung doors because the customer is purchasing less in both materials and labour.

Slab doors are a good choice for customers interested in replacing a single damaged interior door themselves but are not recommended for the do-it-yourselfer looking to replace an exterior door due to the difficulty in getting an exterior door to close "weathertight". Installation of a slab door does require a good eye, steady hand a lots of practice but is made easier if the door being installed is exactly the same size and has the same configuration as the door being replaced.
